Pending excitement

Hey there guys!  I wanted to share with you my favorite TV shows and my excitement over them.  This week it seems like they're all starting back up after pausing for the summer.

1.  Marvel's Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I am a huge Marvel fan and I love the movies they come out with and the superheroes.  I really enjoyed the first season of this show and I'm super excited for this season.

2.  The Middle

This show is about the dysfunctional Heck family living in a small town in Indiana.  Each of the family members is hilarious and quirky in their own way.  It's hilarious.

3.  The Goldbergs

This is another show about a family, equally as dysfunction as the Hecks.  This one takes place in the 80's though, so you get a fair share of power walking and big hair.

That's all I have for you today.  Oh, and by the way, these shows are all on ABC.  I hope you watch some of them!

Fingers crossed for next week,

Sick day essentials

Hey there guys!  I have been sick for the past couple weeks and a few days ago, I decided to take a day off school to try and recover.  These are the things that got me through my sick day.

1.  Tissues
Usually when I get colds, I sneeze a lot, so it's helpful to always have a box of tissues by my side.

2.  Water
It's really important to stay hydrated when you're sick, because you can lose fluids more easily when you're blowing your nose a lot.  I kept my CamelBak close by throughout the day.

3.  Tea
I know some people don't like tea, but I do.  I had some teas that are supposed to help especially with throat soreness, and I loved drinking them, mixed with a little honey.

4.  Soup
Soup is the classic sicky food, and I enjoyed it.  My mom wasn't home to look after me, so I had to make it myself.  Luckily, it was only the canned type, which took about 5 minutes to heat up.  So easy!

5.  Phone
When you're sick, all you want to do is be lazy.  I was no exception.  I had fun catching up on my YouTube subscriptions and checking Instagram while laying in bed.

6.  Laptop
The other thing I did while laying in bed was binge-watch Friends, my favorite show.  I was also able to look on my school's website and see what homework I needed to make up.

7.  Vicks VapoRub
This stuff helped me fall asleep faster because I could actually breathe through my nose a little bit.

8.  Cough drops
This is another obvious one, but I felt like I should mention them.  I went to school with a cough quite a few days, and these helped me to look like less of a dying person.

I hope you guys enjoyed seeing what my sick day essentials were, especially since cold season is approaching, and maybe already upon us.

Woodleaf 2014

This past weekend I was at a camp called Woodleaf near Chico.  There, the sophomores and juniors of my school got to play sports like frisbee and volleyball, hang out with friends, and learn more about who God is and who we are in Him.  We had competitions between teams, and as you can see, I was a part of the pink team.  We didn't win the whole thing, but we beat the rest of the sophomores, which is pretty cool.

My thing I took away from this weekend was probably how great my friends are.  Whether it was someone offering me gum to relieve my sore throat or willing to go to the bathroom with me, I realized how much my friends care about me.  And I know, that might sound self-centered, but it's nice to be reminded that people have your back, even if they don't say it verbally.

I hope that you guys have a close circle of friends who would do anything for you.  And if not, start going out of your way to do thoughtful things; they'll probably reciprocate.

Fingers crossed for next week,

School Essentials 2014

Hey there guys!  As you may or may not know, I've been back in school for almost a month now, and I thought I'd share with you the things that have gotten me through this tough transition from summer to the majority of the year that's torturous.  Anyway, I'll get right into it.

1.  Coconut almond bars

My first essential, of course, is food-related.  I can get pretty hungry during school, so these bars are great to eat during breaks because they're super filling and really yummy.

2. Pencil case

I love this pencil case because I am that person who always has a billion colors of pens, hi lighters, and Sharpies with them, so this helps me to keep them together.

3.  4-color pens

I love these pens because I carry a lot of pencils and pens, which take up a lot of space.  It's nice to have these pens because they have really nice colors and don't take up too much room.

4.  Burt's Bees chapstick

This chapstick has been my favorite for two or three years now and I always have one with me, because I hate having dry and chapped lips.

5.  Planner

I am a pretty disorganized person, so it's nice to have a big planner where I can write down all my assignments and remember to do them.

6.  Accordion file

Part of my school is being redone and we're getting new lockers, which weren't put in before school started.  This accordion file has kept me super organized, even though I don't have a binder for each class.

7.  Paper book covers

I personally can't stand the cloth book covers that you can buy at stores and like to make my own covers from paper bags.  I think they look a lot nicer and you can doodle on them if you get bored in class, which is always fun.

8.  Deodorant

This is an essential for me because in PE, you can get so sweaty and gross-feeling, and putting on deodorant just helps me to feel so much fresher during my next class.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what my school essentials are so far.

DIY Pinterest-inspired quote cards

Hey there guys!  Today I have for you a DIY.  There's a trend going around my sister's school called "artist cards" and I adapted ones she's shown me and came up with this cute craft idea for you.

The supplies you will need are as follows:
-scrapbook paper with dimensions close to 2" by 3"
-scotch tape
-index cards or white paper
-assorted pens and Sharpies

Once you have decided on which scrapbook paper you are going to use, go ahead and cut out an index card to fit on the paper.  You can go really small or practically cover the whole paper.  On this card, I chose to go thin and tall.  It's really up to you though.
The next step is to write your quote on the index card.  This is where Pinterest comes in.  Pinterest is awesome for finding really good quotes, and it's where I found mine.  I have a whole board devoted to quotes, which you can find right here.

Next, tape your white paper to the patterned one.  You can just tape a few sides, do all the corners (as I did here), or loop your tape on the back so it doesn't show.  Again, do whatever you think would look best with your card.

After that, you're finished!  These are a few examples of ones I made.  As you can see, I experimented with different layouts.

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this DIY and try it out.

Uglies book review

I just finished a book called Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, which I picked up at a used book sale at my local library for $2.00...score!! Anyway, I thought it was really good, although I was skeptical at the beginning.

The story takes place in a dystopian society, where you are an "ugly" until you turn sixteen. Then you become a "pretty" through an operation and your whole life becomes one party after another. Tally Youngblood, the protagonist, is all set to become a pretty, until she meets a girl named Shay who presents the idea of a different future: don't become pretty. Instead, leave the city and don't go back.

Uglies included many plot twists and was generally fun to read. I would strongly recommend it.

Summer Favorites 2014

Hey there guys!  I thought with summer ending and school starting I would tell you about some of my favorites from this summer.  Almost all of these could be used during school too, not just in the summer months.

1.  My Phone

I have an iPhone and I absolutely love it.  I didn't get one until about a year ago, but I have seen how useful it can be.  Granted, it's really easy to waste a lot of time on it.  But I love being able to access all my favorite social networks, including Instagram, Youtube, and Pinterest, during the summer.  It can be beneficial during school also if you have to check your school website for assignments or email a teacher with a question.

2.  Pandora

I personally hate buying music on iTunes because it seems so expensive!  Pandora really solves this problem because you can customize your own stations through the website and listen to whatever you want.  Also, I find that listening to music helps me when I do homework and it's nice to not be limited to only what's on my phone.  My favorite stations at the moment are 'Today's Hits' and 'Disney.'

3.  Friends

Within a few weeks this summer, I have watched through about four seasons of the TV show Friends.  I think that all the characters are so funny especially Chandler (my favorite).  It's fun because my best friend and I got into the show at the same time without knowing it, and we [obviously] chose friends that remind us of the characters and reference Friends all the time.

4.  It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product

This leave-in conditioner spray has been so essential this summer.  I spent about 4 weeks total camping and another week on a houseboat and this spray kept my hair so soft and tangle-free.  I use it every time I wash my hair, which was at least three or four times a week, and I still have 3/4 of a bottle. This stuff lasts a long time and is amazing.

5.  BiorĂ© Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser

I have been using this face wash for a few months now and I love it.  I use it once in the morning and once at night, and this skin care routine of mine has been working pretty well.  Obviously I am a teenager and I do have breakouts, but I think this face wash has been doing a pretty good job of managing all the hormones and oil and whatnot my skin has to deal with.

I hope you guys enjoyed hearing about what I was loving this summer!

Fingers crossed for next week,
